University MentorshipParticipant ResourcesThe Mentorship staff creates and sends electronic monthly and mid-monthly newsletters to all participants to keep participants updated about our activities, share announcements about campus events of note and relate tips for a successful semester. They're also used to spotlight the myriad student-run organizations and co-curricular involvements of our Communication Coordinators, who are connected to sports, leadership, community service, research and cultural groups--they share relevant information from their everyday campus lives to the incoming class in order to supplement the mentoring experience. We also publish manuals and various training materials to assist mentors in their role (both peer mentors and faculty/staff), so that all participants are well-informed and prepared. *NOW UPDATED FOR the 2012 ACADEMIC YEAR!* SEE WHAT YOU MISSED at the 2012 Mentor Workshop: View handouts and guides from the session by clicking the image below: Mentor's Corner: 2012-2013 Peer Mentor Resources All peer mentors undergo a 1-day spring training to prepare them for the mentorship experience the upcoming fall. This year Mentorship will use a student success model to encourage targeted discussions with mentees to help them reach their first year goals along with the group records that document progress each month that they give to their assigned staff. Prior to training, all peer mentor applicants are invited to a mass meeting where our staff presents about the role and answers questions. This is a voluntary event recommended for all applicants, and there are two per year before the application deadline. MENTOR REIMBURSEMENT GUIDELINES Click here to view the guidelines for reimbursement to mentors. Mentor groups receive an $80 stipend to support their group's activities! This information will let you know how to get reimbursed, where to find forms and the process for submitting receipts. PEER MENTOR MONTHLY CHECKLISTS This is a quick checklist Mentors should compelte each month and submit to their CCs. We do this to easily gauge a mentor's accomplishments, although it is not the ONLY way to analyze mentor involvement--many other things happen that we can't put on a form. The Checklist is another way we record MOTY eligibility and give us some insight to provide support and advice. Click HERE to download the full (4-month) CHECKLISTS PEER MENTOR GROUP RECORDS NOW AVAILABLE FOR FALL 2012 (SEPT-DEC 2012) The first group records are due to your CC at the end of September, and there are usually no core group meetings due to the workshop on September 22nd, where your full core meets with its CC. The next are is due to your CC at your core group meetings that begin in October, and continue through December.
