Mentorship Pre-Professional Workshop

November 4, 2009

Michigan Union Kuenzel Room

This event was a drop-in workshop for students considering their majors who wanted to talk with a knowledgeable student, faculty or staff member about their options for courses and future careers! We had a great turnout of students from various disciplines to talk to Mentorship student staff, volunteer faculty members, professional staff at the University and students with experience to help participants make an informed decision. We had support and assistance from current staff mentors and UM professionals: Chyrisha Brown (current staff mentor and former CC, pictured left) and Martha Kirpes (LSA Academic Advising, current staff mentor pictured right)! Law, Medicine, Psychology, Organizational Studies, Engineering,  Architecture and others were present as well.

Mentorship Backpacking Courses Workshop

November 18, 2009

Shapiro Undergraduate Library PC/Mac classroom

Mentorship invited LSA Academic Advisors to assist with the backpacking (UM's term for selecting) courses process for mentors and mentees! With the aid of these experts, students were able to navigate Wolverine access, discuss their choices for courses, learn which courses would fit best with their major interests, hear from our staff and other students in the room about classes they recommend and make the backpacking process easier and quicker! This event was a successful follow-up to the Mentorship Pre-Professional Workshop earlier this month.
