Summer Admits

Congratulations on your admission for the Summer Term. Now that you have been admitted, there are several things you will need to do before coming to campus.

1. Pay the $300 enrollment deposit

This deposit guarantees your spot in the Summer Term and triggers many other processes for you to become an enrolled student. If you don’t pay the enrollment deposit, or have it waived by the University, you will not be able to sign up for orientation and register for classes. 

2. Get your uniqname

Your uniqname is your official University of Michigan computing account and email address.  Once the University receives your Enrollment Deposit, it takes about 2 days before you will be able to set up your uniqname, and it may take another 24-48 hours for your uniqname to officially become active. 

3. Sign up for and attend orientation.

4. Apply for your U.S. student visa.

You are strongly encouraged to apply for your U.S. student visa as soon as possible after you have received your certificate of eligibility document from the University of Michigan. It currently may take significant time for visa processing. Please allow at least a month to plan for your travel to the United States. You should plan to obtain your visa and arrive on campus in time to attend International Orientation. Academic programs at the University of Michigan are very rigorous and demanding. It is critical that you arrive in Ann Arbor in time to participate from the start in your required orientation program so that you will be ready to start classes at the beginning of the academic term.
