Thank you for supporting your student’s decision to attend the University of Michigan.
International Orientation for Fall Term Students
If your student has been admitted for the Fall Term (starts classes in September), he or she will most likely attend the International Orientation program. The International Orientation program for transfer students in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA) is TBD. For ALL other international students, including freshmen in LSA and all non-LSA students, the International Orientation program is TBD.
International Orientation will serve as in introduction for your student to the University community. During International Orientation, your student will complete all necessary procedures for class registration including placement testing, general information sessions, and academic advising. Students who live outside of the United States, students who are in the United States on a temporary or student visa, and students who are U.S. citizens educated abroad are required to attend International Orientation.
International Parent & Family Orientation for Fall Term
Parents and family members are an important source of support as new students begin their education at the University of Michigan. During the International Orientation program for students starting classes in the Fall Term, we offer a corresponding International Parent & Family Orientation Program for their parents and family members. This program is free, occurs on TBD, and we encourage parents and family members of new international students to attend if possible.
