Become an Orientation Leader

We’re currently accepting applications for summer 2023 orientation leaders. 

As an orientation leader, you get to welcome new Wolverines to our U-M community at orientation and Welcome to Michigan events. We’re looking for students who are eager to share their experiences as a student at U-M, be a campus resource for new students, and make a positive impact on the U-M community.

Details:

  • Priority application deadline is Feb. 26.
  • Applicants must be available to work in person from June 16-Sept. 5
  • Orientation leaders are paid $17 per hour for training and orientation-related programming.
  • Responsibilities include facilitating small groups, leading campus tours, and more.

Become an Information Referral Assistant

We’re currently accepting applications for summer 2023 information referral assistants (IRAs).

As an IRA, you get to welcome new Wolverines and their families to our U-M community through answering questions and providing assistance as they prepare for orientation and the upcoming school year. We’re looking for enthusiastic and resourceful students to play an important role in the day-to-day operations of our front desk.

Details:

  • Priority application deadline is March 10 by 10 a.m.
  • Applicants must be available to work in person from May 1-Aug. 26. Paid training will begin in person in April.
  • IRAs earn $15 per hour.
  • Responsibilities include providing customer service by telephone, email, and G-chat, welcoming walk-in traffic, assisting new students with the orientation reservation process, and more.
