Winter admits: Check back here in November for more information about orientation.

First-year Students

We look forward to working with you as you start your journey as a Michigan Wolverine.

Orientation is a hybrid experience involving both virtual and in-person components for all students. All steps of orientation are required for new students.

Orientation consists of three main components: pre-advising activities and online placement exams, Virtual Academic Advising, and a one-day On-campus Experience.

You will be invited to register for orientation via your U-M email in April (spring, summer, and fall admits) or November (winter term admits).

Learn how to register.

Orientation Timing

Orientation registration will launch in late April for students starting in spring, summer, and fall terms, and in November for students starting in the winter term. During this time, students will gain access to and complete the online orientation course and placement exams. Both of these activities must be completed before your Virtual Academic Advising appointment.

Students starting in summer term will attend their On-campus Experience on June 27. Fall term students will see available dates in the months of July and August based on their respective school or college.
